Championing Grimsby’s Seafood Heritage: Fastnet at the Great Grub Fest 2025

This summer, Fastnet Fish was proud to serve as the headline sponsor of the 2025 Great Grub Fest – an event that continues to shine a spotlight on the region’s vibrant food culture and strong sense of community.

Having supported the event for several years, we felt it was the right time to step into a leading role. Our decision to become headline sponsor was driven by more than visibility – it reflected our belief in the value and purpose of the festival. The organisers, Wayne and Chelsy, have consistently delivered a high-quality, well-run event that brings genuine benefit to the town. They ensured we were exceptionally well looked after throughout, and it was a pleasure to work alongside such dedicated individuals.

A Full Festival Presence

For the first time, Fastnet Fish had a physical presence across all three days of the event, hosting a stand that allowed us to connect directly with the public. This provided an ideal opportunity to speak with visitors, share insights about our company, and highlight the broad range of seafood products we supply.

Based in Grimsby since 1980, we are deeply rooted in a town built on its fishing legacy – once home to the largest fishing port in the world. Our participation in the Great Grub Fest was not only about showcasing products, but also about representing and promoting Grimsby’s enduring seafood heritage.

Culinary Showcases: From Demo to Dish

In the lead-up to the event, we worked with Cooky Cooks to film a demonstration of The Mighty Mariner – a hearty, flavour-packed dish using our sustainably sourced haddock. We also partnered with Nasturtium Bistro, who created a beautiful showcase of our premium Black Cod, highlighting the depth and diversity of species we supply.

During the festival weekend itself, Cooky Cooks returned with his own cooking stall, serving a variety of dishes to enthusiastic crowds. On two of those days, The Mighty Mariner was featured on the menu – and thanks to the strong relationships built locally through the Great Grub Fest, we were pleased to supply the haddock used in that dish. It was a perfect example of how collaboration within the local food community can bring quality seafood directly to the public in a meaningful and memorable way.

Celebrating What Makes Grimsby Unique

Prior to the event, we shared the following:

“Grimsby’s fishing heritage is second to none – once home to the largest fishing dock in the world, this town was built on seafood. As a seafood wholesale company based here since 1980, we feel a responsibility to champion the culture and heritage of our hometown.”

This sentiment remained at the heart of our involvement. Through the Great Grub Fest, we were able to celebrate not just the quality of the seafood we supply, but the broader cultural and culinary significance it holds for our region.

Our sincere thanks to Wayne and Chelsy for their outstanding efforts in delivering such a successful and well-organised event. We were honoured to take part, and proud to play a role in championing the town and industry we care so deeply about.
